Superintendent's Message

Sweeny ISD Students, Staff, Parents, & Community:

I am honored to be your Superintendent of Schools! The primary role of our District is to build Life-Ready Learners who are ready to create their future.  It is also our responsibility to ensure that a robust, relevant, and responsive learning system exists to support the personalized needs of each student.

As we start the 2021-2022 school year, we are excited about welcoming our students back into our classrooms for in-person learning.  There is no replacement for in-person learning and human interaction.  With this in mind, much time and energy has been committed to ensuring that our students are able to learn in a safe environment.

Managing the unpredictable realities of a pandemic has been challenging for students, parents, and staff.  However, we have an opportunity to reignite student passions for learning, refocus on academic achievement, and revive a sense of normalcy for our students and staff.  To accomplish this, our teachers and staff have been trained in the use of multiple strategies to assist with learning loss. Our teacher-led design team has also created many structures to support our Life-Ready Learner profile goals.   In addition, the District will maximize the use of the $5.5 million of ESSER Federal Funds to ensure that an abundance of learning recovery resources are available over the next three years.

We will continue to follow safety protocols, including social distancing, optional masks, daily cleaning, and hand sanitizing.  We encourage you to access the COVID-19 Resources Tab on the website for more information.

Together we will continue to provide unparalleled learning experiences that allow our students to recover and thrive!
