Communities in Schools Texas Joint Venture (CIS-TJV) is a joint venture 501(c)3 non-profit organization administered by the Texas Education Agency which serves students in Brazoria County and Southeast Harris County.
One of the key initiatives for CIS-TJV is providing high-quality programs during the school day and afterschool throughout Brazoria and Southeast Harris Counties. They currently have 80 federally and state funded program sites in 9 school districts serving over 11,000 students.
CIS-TJV serves students in Sweeny ISD through a full-time CIS-TJV staff member at the Sweeny Elementary campus. The CIS-TJV program at Sweeny Elementary strives to improve academics, behavior, attendance, promotion and graduation rates. CIS does this by providing homework help, tutoring, enrichment, health and wellness, character education, college and career readiness, family engagement, social services and service learning.
