Bus Transportation
This is a service provided by Sweeny ISD. Riding is a privilege, not a right. To enjoy this privilege, students are expected to behave appropriately. This is so the driver can maintain a safe environment for all our students. We appreciate your support!
Procedures for Riding the Bus
- Be at the BUS STOP 10 MINUTES before the scheduled pick-up time. The driver will not wait or honk the horn. If the student misses the bus, it is the PARENT’S responsibility to get their child to school.
- Stand 10ft from the road. Be in plain sight in the driveway so the driver can see you. (Do not stand even with trees and bushes or beside vehicles).
- Before the bus stops, you must be out of the vehicle waiting for the bus to come to a complete stop, and the door opens so you can get on the bus.
Loading the Bus
- Do not push or shove.
- Use handrails, and take one step at a time. (Do not skip steps)
- The Bus Driver will assign seats.
- Go straight to your seat.
Getting Off the Bus
- Stay seated until the BUS STOPS.
- Use handrails, and do not skip steps getting off the BUS.
- Stay clear of the BUS after getting off. DO NOT CHASE OR HANG ON TO THE BUS.
Crossing In Front of the Bus
This is ONLY if we have no choice.
- Look at the driver and wait for the driver to signal it is safe to cross getting on or off the bus.
- Also, you should look in both directions before walking across the road.
- Never cross behind the bus
- CAUTION: Be alert of vehicles that do not stop for the bus loading and unloading.
ITEMS PROHIBITED ON THE BUS
1. Tobacco of any kind.
2. NO VAPES OF ANY KIND.
3. Drugs or harmful chemicals.
4. Alcoholic beverages.
