In an effort to respect the time of our guests and those that are being recognized, Sweeny ISD Board Meetings will be conducted in the following manner beginning at 6:00 pm:

At the conclusion of Communications from the Public, the board will enter into Executive Session. Following the Executive Session, the board will enter into an Open Session for business to be conducted and action taken when needed.

Board of Trustees Information

Board of Trustees Goals

Continuously improve and provide a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.
- The percent of 3rd grade students that score meets grade level or above on STAAR Reading will increase from 36% to 56% by June 2024 (HB3).
- The percent of 3rd grade students that score meets grade level or above on STAAR Math will increase from 32% to 52% by June 2024 (HB3).
Increase the percentage of students who are college, career, or military ready through innovative programs and partnerships.
- The percentage of graduates that are identified as meeting the criteria for CCMR will increase from 79.2% to 94% by August 2024 (HB3).
Develop and implement long-range facility and financial plans to meet the future needs of students.
Promote a supportive culture for students through parental engagement, strong community partnerships, and ongoing communication.

Four Pillars for Continuous Improvement

Pillar I: Teaching and Learning

Sweeny ISD will develop and implement a comprehensive plan to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student. (Board Goal 2 & 3)

Objective 1: Enhance vertical alignment in all curriculum areas.
Objective 2: Outline and provide professional learning for cross-curricular instructional strategies to support literacy and numeracy development.
Objective 3: Create campus assessments and data analysis processes and timelines to monitor student progress.
Objective 4: Increase the percent of students who are college, career, or military ready through innovative programs and partnerships.
Objective 5: Increase PSAT/SAT student participation and scores.

Pillar II: Collaborative Culture

Sweeny ISD will promote increased internal communication and create structures for ongoing collaboration amongst staff. (Board Goals 2 & 5)

Objective 1: Develop a systematic process for routine, ongoing communications with internal stakeholders.
Objective 2: Create time/structures for staff collaboration, data analysis, and goal setting in ways that result in increased student achievement.

Pillar III: Fiscal and Operational Planning

Sweeny ISD will develop and implement long-range facility, financial, and safety plans to meet the future needs of students. (Board Goals 1, 2, & 4)

Objective 1: Continuously improve and provide a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
Objective 2: Enhance handbooks, manuals, and administrative regulations to promote consistency across the district.
Objective 3: Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local guidelines through routine audits, reviews, and program evaluations.

Pillar IV: Community Outreach

Sweeny ISD will promote a supportive culture for students through parental engagement, strong community partnerships, and ongoing communication. (Board Goal 1, 3 & 5)

Objective 1: Design programs to meet the social, emotional, nutritional, and educational needs of SISD students.
Objective 2: Promote knowledge of the benefits and career opportunities associated with District programs.
Objective 3: Develop/enhance systematic process for communication with external stakeholders.
